Hippos Go Berserk and Moo, Baa, La La La by Sandra Boynton
Really I love most of her books because they have a great rhythm that makes them fun to read. And they're short enough that our daughter has actually memorized most of them and gets excited to turn the page because she knows what's coming next.

What Makes a Rainbow? by Betty Ann Schwartz
This is such a great book for little kids and fun way to learn colors. Our daughter loves the different colored ribbons and especially loves the line "what makes a rainbow?" on each page. For some reason it makes her giggle. She's silly like that. The illustrations throughout the book are charming - I really adore the little legs on all of the animals (especially Mr. Fox).

I Know a Rhino by Charles Fuge
We've had this book since our oldest daughter was born - her godmother (who happens to love rhinos) gave it to her and it was an instant favorite. We've read it so often that she knows all of the animals/friends on each page and likes to point out everything they're doing. It's so fanciful and imaginative with it's tea drinking rhino, bubble bathing giraffe, and ice skating hippo.
What are your favorite children's books?
I remember my first books since I was a kid.
